A practice I have been engaging in the last six months is to be GRATEFUL, (I know it’s like DUH right) but not just grateful for the good more importantly grateful for the turmoil in my life.
It’s easy to be grateful and have a good attitude about the awesome things in life.
However, difficult to say THANK YOU for all this chaos, heartbreak, and confusion in my world right now. How hard is it to say thank you for stress, anxiety, uncertainty, and insecurity? How can we be grateful for the funky dark clouds when all we want to do is stand in the light and have peace?
An even better question: WHY be grateful for it?
As cheesy as cliches are they are usually true!
Attitude is everything or my favorite way of saying it, PERSPECTIVE is EVERYTHING!
Being grateful means finding and seeking out the light through the darkness. It is our responsibility to grow through the darkness, to find our way, and machete through the thick twines that trap us and keep us stagnant. Often the turmoil we feel tugging at our heart is the not so gentle reminders that now is the time to take action and change, to develop, to be different. It’s the tug of transformation and we hesitate because we know it won’t be easy.
I think Tupac said it best in his poem, “A Rose That Grew From Concrete.”
“Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s law is wrong it
learned to walk without having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.”
Learn to grow where you are and having a grateful perspective will allow you to do so. The rose did not complain that it wasn’t in a field, it grew and bloomed where it’s journey took it! Nothing is more beautiful than blooming when and where people do not expect you to.
So try this: When I am feeling__________ I need to take action and__________.
Insecure…focus on strengths
As we see evolvement through our darkness we can have a grateful heart!
I would love for us to make a grateful list together.
We know the usual “grateful list makers,” family, friends, food, shelter, but let’s think outside the box.
Here I will start, these are things I’m grateful for when I’m in the dark:
Night (soothing and relaxing)
Color (Intensifies feeling)
Aglets (plastic part of Shoelaces)
iPhone (there isn’t enough room here, HA)
Planner (I can’t remember it all)
Language (I love talking)
Human connection (the ability to feel emotions)
Alright, your turn.

KmoreMacro is all about leading, guiding, and showing others there is a healthy, sustainable way of eating that doesn’t deprive them of the foods they love in order to reach their health goals. I have learned how to eat the foods I love and need with balance. Let me tell you, this has lit a fire in my gut to spread this joy and show people how great food knowledge can be. Food confidence is important and learning to let go of food guilt is key.
Now, food balance has only fueled my fire for athletics and competition. I have more energy and gas in the tank to take it to a whole new level. Every year I stretch my comfort zone and try something new.I have been a Crossfit athlete, a runner, a bikini competitor and dabbled in bodybuilding in the last 3 years. I can’t wait to see what this year brings. Each year the growth in my journey nutritionally and athletically is exciting and thrusts me into the next adventure. I have learned so much in the last 4 years and have gained much insight on mental toughness and strength.
What you see is what you get. I am passionate and caring. I love with all my heart and have very few secrets. I don’t hide my emotions well whether gleeful or gloomy. I am a positive person and tend to see the good in most things. I have been an athlete all my life, but now I am a cheerleader for success! It’s the only way I know to live!
Growing up I had many amazing mentors/coaches who taught me about life when all I could see was the game in front of me. These coaches, along with my family were pivotal in molding and developing me. They inspired me and believed in my ability to one day guide others through their journey.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, good quotes, scripture, funny shirts, dirty hair, headbands, water bottles, chocolate, a good deal, people who build others up, fake lashes, a good spray tan, thin socks and most importantly COFFEE!
