FITposium LIVE 100th Episode Recording

FITposium LIVE 100th Episode Recording

In this, the 100th episode of the FITposium podcast, host James Patrick is joined by original co-host Jason Black to talk with core members of the James Patrick Photography and FITposium about the launch of their first ever podcast seven years ago as well as the birth of the very first FITposium conference in 2015. James and his team share their stories of the lessons learned from FITposium 2015 how it has grown over the last few years. The team also has a few surprises for James along the way in celebration of the 100th episode.

James and Jason interview Amber Blom, who first started at James Patrick Photography production manager and is now the chair of FITposium talk about the first conference attempted five years ago. They share their candid opinion about the outcome, how it didn’t exactly work out as planned but how four months later with a vision and all hands on deck it came to be the stepping stone of what FITposium is now, five years later. They describe how much in five years the personality and quality of FITposium has changed for the better with each new year bringing in more attendees, higher caliber speakers and growing opportunities. Amber surprises James and Jason with a calculated guessing game called “The Cost is Accurate” where she lists a fitness product that James, Jason and a guest form the audience have to guess the price of. The end of the game leaves us with one nagging question, did Jason cheat, or does he just watch way too many infomercials?

Max Anderson joins in chats about how he first met James ten years ago, their most memorable projects and why it’s important to have the right director when acting. From surviving a hoard of starving body builders to producing zombie videos, they cover their colorful relationship thus far. Later leading into Max’s surprise movie game where Max lists a movie title and James, Jason and an audience guest member have to guess the top critic’s score of the movie.

Heather Vines-Bright, FITposium’s event coordinator and head of communications, talks with James and Jason about their professional past originally working together briefly before going separate ways then coming back together five years later to collaborate on FITposium.

James describes how much this year’s FITposium secret keynote speaker has affected his professional life as well as his personal trajectory. Kirstyn Brown, the editor of STRONG Fitness Magazine, then reaches out with an inspiring message for James and the rest of the team on their 100th podcast episode. To wrap up the episode a hilarious game of “Would You Rather?” has the team agreeing they’d all rather have the itch.

053 featuring Mike Zeller: Why We Need to Create White Space

053 featuring Mike Zeller: Why We Need to Create White Space

Host James Patrick brings on business architect Michael Zeller to discuss why it is important for entrepreneurs to create and open space for themselves to think and strategize.

The question the two discuss is do entrepreneurs want to be an operator in their business, trying to control all the day-to-day tasks; or do they want to be an owner who is directing the vision and direction for the brand?

When we are out of energy or out of time, we no longer have the ability to make smart decisions that move us closer to our goals. We hit a ceiling and cannot get beyond that.

We were not raised to create space for ourselves to think and strategize but instead we were raised to keep our heads down and work hard – which is not necessarily working smart.

The goal is to figure out how to create space and rhythms to balancing working intensely while allowing space to breathe because the key to high performance is taking that time off.

044: Find Your Why

044: Find Your Why

Hosts James Patrick delivers an intensely emotional presentation on how he was able to find his reasoning behind his work and how that changed everything for him and his mission.

Many of us know what we do. We know what we are drawn to work on and what we want to achieve. But few of us continue to peel back the layers to find our own reasons of why.

Why are these are passions, why are these are dedications, why are these the things we find most important? Perhaps we just find a surface reason that keeps us going, or perhaps we ignore the reasoning and just focus on the tasks at hand.

However, as James reveals in this episode, finding your why reveals your greater purpose and sense of self. It is the key essence of your motivation and of your inspiration.

Finding your why will guide you to accelerate your journey far beyond what could be achieved by just focusing on what you want to do.

Hosts James Patrick sits down serial-preneur and FITposium presenter Jon Boles, owner of Avintiv Media and founder of Modus Apparel.

The two discuss how entrepreneurs will fail year after year and hit so many roadblocks before their breakthrough and how important it is to realize that the coaches, entrepreneurs and business mentors that we look up to are not at the end game but really only a few steps ahead of where we are. Yet all we see is their success. We don’t see how hard it was for them to get where they are or how hard it still might be for them.

Jon gets into his consulting practice and why he encourages his clients to start with their vision of why they want to do the work they are pursuing. He now has more amazing relationships, have 10X his income and works fewer hours than ever before.

The two get into Jon’s past and what brought him out to Arizona and launching his various brands and what motivates him when he is coaching and consulting his clients. He also discusses why he cut out 10 of his closest friends to try and move himself forward. James gets into how infectious people’s energy is and how people should be aware of their bad energy and pushing their bad energy onto other people.

Jon and James then get into how people need to show value to their clients and how they can raise their prices by showing value.

James then shares why it is actually doing your clients a disservice by undercharging them. Jon then points out that clients who don’t want to pay for a high level service are the neediest people in the world whereas the highest paying clients typically are not at all.

Lindsey shares the inspiration behind writing her first book, Powerhouse Woman, and how the writing process evolved the further she got into the book. She went from only writing 3 blog articles in 3 years to developing an idea that she could write a full book about. Spurring from the book Lindsey launched her own event and the formation of her upcoming “girl gang” where women truly support and cheer one another on through collaboration.

The group then discusses the overcoming of fear from launching a piece of work, such as writings or a book and how to overcome the bias in how we see our own work. James goes into a discussion of how to find inspiration to create work, and it may not be what you’re assuming.

From there the group discusses errors and why we should not cripple ourselves from launching our projects out of fearing making a mistake. Then the group handles how to deal with critique and feedback.
